Blue Angels can't ground Eagles at Home

Glendale, WI- Thursday saw the Mount Mary University softball team return home after a three game series at Viterbo. The Blue Angels played the V-Hawks very tough in the three games in La Crosse and looked to carry that positive momentum into Thursday's single contest against the Eagles of Judson University.
The Judson Eagles proved to be slightly better on this day unfortunately, winning the contest by a final score of 10-4.
Judson started fast with a three run top of the first.
In the bottom of the first, Amanda Nance continued her phenomenal week, blasting a home run to right center. It was her sixth of the season and 4th in the last three games. She drove in Taylor Hames who had walked to begin the inning.
Judson staged a rally in the top of the 2nd but Lily Day made clutch pitches and the Blue Angel outfield was solid, holding Judson to a single run. The Eagles would lead 4-2 heading into the bottom of the 2nd.
The next scoring in the game would come when the Eagles staged a 4 run rally in the top of the 4th to take an 8-2 lead.
The Blue Angel outfielders shone all day, with outstanding catches by Taylor Hames, Nirella Coelho and Gabriela Chagas throughout the game.
MMU would score two in the bottom half of the 6th, Ava Flannery came through with a clutch double and Anna Corpas Salcedo drove in a run with a groundout.
Judson would add two in the top of the 7th to go ahead 10-4, which would be the final score.
The Blue Angels had six hits in Thursday's game, Nance with another home run and a double, Kylie Ann Kluck, Lily Day, Ava Flannery and Ayja Cushman also had hits for MMU.
Mount Mary (0-36, 0-24 CCAC) has three contests remaining on the 2026 campaign. All against Olivet Nazarene, the Blue Angels will play a single road contest Friday and a home doubleheader Saturday. Saturday will be senior day as Taylor Hames and Kylie Ann Kluck will be recognized for their many contributions to MMU softball.
