Viterbo
La Crosse, WI- The Mount Mary softball team began their final week of the 2026 season on Tuesday. What will be a busy week for the Blue Angels started with a doubleheader at Viterbo University.
In the two games, Mount Mary played a solid brand of softball but fell by scores of 3-1 and 19-6.
Game one began with Amanda Nance staying red hot at the plate. She connected for her third home run of the season to stake MMU out to a 1-0 lead.
The V-Hawks would claim the lead at 2-1 with a 2 run bottom of the second.
Viterbo would add a single tally in the 4th, making the score 3-1, which would be the final margin in game 1.
Taylor Hames had a strong outing in the circle, inducing soft contact and holding Viterbo to just three runs on ten hits.
The Blue Angels' best chance came when Ava Flannery drew a lead off walk in the 6th, but the Blue Angels were victims of a strike out and caught stealing double play to end the rally.
In addition to Nance's long ball, Lily Day, Taylor Hames, Ayja Cushman and Kylie Ann Kluck collected single hits for Mount Mary in game one. Kluck and Hames both also reached on walks.
Game two saw Mount Mary post another productive first inning, Amanda Nance continued her torrid hitting, driving in Taylor Hames for the game's first run. Kylie Ann Kluck then blasted a two run home run, her first of the season, to extend the Blue Angel lead to 3-0.
Viterbo would pound out seven runs in the first two innings to reclaim the lead at 7-3.
In the Blue Angel third it was none other than Amanda Nance striking again, she came through with her second home run of the doubleheader and fourth of the season. The 3 run blast would bring MMU within one at 7-6.
Unfortunately for MMU, the Viterbo offense would respond in the third inning in a big way. The V-Hawks scored 12 runs in the frame to take a 19-6 lead.
That score would hold for the remainder of the game.
The Blue Angel offense definitely produced in game two, Nance was 2-2 with a home run and four runs batted in. Kylie Ann Kluck had a home run as well, along with a walk and two runs batted in.
Taylor Hames collected two hits in the day's second contest as well.
The Blue Angels (0-34, 0-22 CCAC) will play one more game in La Crosse against Viterbo before heading home. Wednesday's single contest is scheduled for 2 pm. Stay tuned to www.mtmaryathletics.com for all coverage of Blue Angel softball.
