Softball Recap: Doubleheader at Judson

Elgin, IL- The Mount Mary softball team's busiest week of the season continued Thursday as they returned to the Chicagoland area for a doubleheader against Judson University.
The Blue Angels continued the improvement they have shown throughout the season but they fell in both games to Judson by scores of 14-2 and 9-1.
Game one got off to a fantastic start for the Blue Angels, run scoring hits by Amanda Nance and Kylie Ann Kluck propelled Mount Mary to a 2-0 lead. Taylor Hames also drew a walk and scored a run during the rally.
The homestanding Eagles would score a single run in the bottom of the 1st to cut the lead in half at 2-1. A three-run 2nd inning would give Judson the lead at 4-2.
The Eagle offense would break loose in the 4th inning, scoring 9 runs to take a 14-2 lead.
14-2 would be the final score of game one. Nance and Kluck provided the two hits for MMU on the game.
Game 2 commenced with Mount Mary quickly loading the bases in the top of the 1st, Lily Day and Amanda Nance singled, followed by a Kylie Ann Kluck walk. Ava Flannery then drew a bases loaded walk to give the Blue Angels a 1-0 lead.
The lead would be short lived however as Judson would score eight runs in the game's first three innings to claim an 8-1 lead.
Alex Eads would collect a hit later in the game, but the Blue Angels did not score another run on the day. Judson would take game two by a final score of 9-1.
Mount Mary (0-25, 0-13 CCAC) will play again in the land of Lincoln on Friday. The Blue Angels will play a single game against St. Xavier at 2 pm, before hosting the Cougars on Saturday for a doubleheader.
