Joliet, IL- The Mount Mary softball team began what will be a busy week with a trip to Illinois Tuesday, to take on the Saints of St. Francis University.
The two teams locked up in a doubleheader that saw the Saints take both games by scores of 16-0 and 23-0.
Game one began with St. Francis hanging a big number in the first. The Saints would shoot out to an 8-0 lead after inning number one. From there it would be all St. Francis, as they took game one by a final score of 16-0.
Kylie Ann Kluck and Ava Flannery came through with hits for the Blue Angels in game one.
The second contest of the day saw Lily Day and Amanda Nance single in the top of the 1st, they would both be stranded however, and the Blue Angels could not take an early lead.
St. Francis would capitalize for four runs in the first to once again claim an early lead. They would stretch the advantage to 15-0 heading into the 3rd inning.
Layla Rambousek and Alex Eads would collect hits in the 5th inning, but MMU was unable to push across a run as they fell in game two by a score of 23-0.
The two teams will face off again on Wednesday, when Mount Mary (0-22, 0-10 CCAC) hosts St. Francis in a single game scheduled for a 12 pm start. All live coverage of that contest and Blue Angel softball can be found on www.mtmaryathletics.com
