Davenport, IA- The Blue Angels of Mount Mary and the Fighting Bees of St. Ambrose University got together for a softball doubleheader Saturday.
St. Ambrose never gave MMU a chance to get going on the day, taking both ends of the doubleheader by scores of 24-0 and 10-2.
In Game one, the Bees offense could not be slowed down, they took a 19-0 lead into the 4th inning and would hold on for the win by a final score of 24-0.
Amanda Nance recorded a hit for Mount Mary in game one.
Game two started off quite well for MMU. Alex Eads, Lily Day, and Amanda Nance all contributed to a 2 run first inning for the Blue Angels. St. Ambrose would answer with one run in the bottom of the 1st and the game headed to the second inning with MMU holding a 2-1 lead.
The Bees took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the second with a two run rally. Clutch two out hitting in the 3rd would extend the St. Ambrose lead to 6-2.
St. Ambrose would add runs in the 4th and 5th inning and pull away for the 10-2 win.
The Blue Angels had three hits in game two, one each by Amanda Nance, Kylie Ann Kluck and Ava Flannery.
Mount Mary (0-15, 0-3 CCAC) will open their home schedule in their next game on Friday, March 27th. The Blue Angels will host Calumet College of St. Joseph in a single game. Once again this season.
