Notre Dame, Ind. -- The Mount Mary University Blue Angels took a long road trip to Holy Cross College on Tuesday evening. The Blue Angels held the Saints to two goals in the first half but then gave up three in the second. Holy Cross won the conference matchup 5-0.
The Blue Angel defense was on full display throughout both halves, as they spent much of the match under pressure. While the offense struggled to find opportunities, the defensive unit remained composed and resilient. Freshman goalkeeper Anna Corpas Salcedo stood tall in the net, racking up 12 saves in a busy night between the posts.
This game also marked a milestone for a new face in goal, as Gabriela Chagas made her debut appearance and collected her first three saves of the season.
Despite the lack of offensive production, the defensive efforts of Corpas Salcedo, Chagas, and the back line brought bright spots in a challenging outing.
The Blue Angels will have a week-long break before returning to the MMU Soccer Field. They will take on conference opponent, Viterbo, at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15th.
