Blue Angels Fall to Dominican 60-48 in Final Game of 2025
Milwaukee, Wis. --- The Blue Angels of Mount Mary University hosted and played their last game of 2025. They welcomed non-conference opponent, Dominican University Stars, to the Bloechl Center. The Blue Angels also hosted Field Trip Day and welcomed Racine Horlick High School, Notre Dame School, and Prince of Peace. The students were able to participate in pregame high fives, along with shooting contests and post-game photos and autographs. The Stars came out on top 60-48.
Box Score Highlights:
- Mikkalla Robertson (Milwaukee, Wis.) dominated the stat line, putting up 24 points and 15 rebounds.
- Vanessa Diaz (Kissimmee, Fla.) knocked down four three-pointers, scoring 12 points on the day. Diaz also picked up two steals.
What Went Down:
The Stars came out hot to begin the game. They scored the first eight points before Diaz knocked down her first three-point bucket of the day. The Stars extended their lead to 15-3 before Norriah Broomfield (Milwaukee, Wis.) swished a pair of free throws, 15-5. Scoring from Sanai Ballard (Highland, Ind.), Robertson, Ameri Lawson (Racine, Wis.), and Rionne Turner (Milwaukee, Wis.) helped the Blue Angels regain momentum and pull within one point in the first quarter. The Blue Angels trailed 15-14.
The Stars scored the first basket of the second quarter before Robertson had a perfect trip to the free throw line, 17-16. Her next trip to the line gave the Blue Angels their first lead of the afternoon, 21-20. Another mid-range jumper for Robertson splashed through the net, leaving the score 23-23 at halftime.
Once again, the Stars scored first coming out of the break. A jumper from Broomfield regained the Blue Angel lead by one, 28-27. Dominican was able to go on a run and pick up a lead as big as 13. Robertson had another perfect trip to the stripe, bringing the score within 10. After the third, the Stars were on top 43-32.
Robertson started things off one minute into the fourth quarter. The Stars hit a shot to answer. A huge Diaz three-point bucket got things going for the Blue Angels. Deja Rivers (Kenosha, Wis.) found herself scoring underneath the basket, 48-41. Robertson scored back-to-back buckets, closing the gap to five points, 50-45. She then drained another pair of free throws with two minutes remaining, cutting the deficit to 50–48. Ultimately, the Stars were able to bounce back and did not let the Blue Angels creep in any further. The Stars came out on top 60-48.
The Blue Angels will return to action after the holidays and the New Year.
