Blue Angels Honor Alexus Hatcher on Senior Day Against St. Ambrose
Milwaukee, Wis. --- The Blue Angels of Mount Mary University welcomed conference opponent St. Ambrose. Before and after the game, senior Alexus Hatcher (Strong City, Kan.) was honored for Senior Day. Hatcher will be graduating on December 13th and played her last game as a Blue Angel today. The Fighting Bees claimed a commanding 83–46 victory.
Senior Day:
Hatcher will be graduating Magna Cum Laude in just three and a half years with a degree in Biology. She plans to continue at Veterinary School. An academic standout, Hatcher has been named academic all-conference in each of her three seasons and has made the maximum possible appearances on the Mount Mary University Dean's list. She has also been an impressive presence in Multiple Student Organizations and participated in numerous community service projects during her time at MMU.
On the basketball court, Hatcher has played in 77 games, started 45, scored 339 points, grabbed 254 rebounds, dished out 60 assists, and taken too many charges to count. She reached a career high of 13 points on four occasions, and on two of those occasions, she grabbed 12 rebounds, also her career high. Most impressively, Hatcher has been part of the winningest season in school history, the winningest two-year period in school history, and the winningest three-year period in school history.
Coach Steffen had this to say, "It is impossible to state strongly enough how much Alexus has meant to Mount Mary Basketball and how much we will miss her. The ultimate hard worker, coachable player, and consummate teammate, Alexus has never taken a possession off, done less than her best, or ever missed a chance to do something to help her team and her basketball program. And she is an even better person. We thank Alexus for all she has done for our basketball program and can only imagine what amazing things she will accomplish in the rest of her career and life after Mount Mary. Simply, thank you, Alexus."
Box Score Highlights:
- Freshman duo Ameri Lawson (Racine, Wis.) and Rionne Turner (Milwaukee, Wis.) led with nine and six points, respectively.
- Lawson also picked up a team-high seven rebounds and two assists.
