Fredericksburg, VA- Mount Mary held the host Eagles of Mary Washington scoreless for the game's first three minutes, the Blue Angels held a 5-0 lead and hoped an upset might be in the cards. Unfortunately for MMU, Mary Washington overwhelmed Mount Mary for the remainder of the contest and cruised to a 93-31 win.

But nothing the Blue Angels tried could slow down the Lions and specifically Megan Bartle, the Finlandia stand out transfer scored 36 points and nearly completed a triple double to lead her team to a 103-62 win.

Chicago, IL- The Mount Mary Basketball team has consistently shot more foul shots than their opponents all season. This was the case again Monday evening at Illinois Tech, however the Blue Angels could not capitalize, missing 11 free throws which was largely the difference in a 70-58 loss. However, a bright spot was first year player Skye Giddings setting a new modern era record for single season points.

Rockford, IL- The Rockford Regents used a 16-5 run to open the game and a 20-10 first quarter to stake a lead over Mount Mary on Friday night. The game largely played even from that point forward, with MMU drawing as close as 4 points in the 4th quarter. Ashland,WI- For two and a half quarters it looked as though the Mount Mary basketball team would claim their third straight win Monday afternoon at Northland College. However the Blue Angels went ice cold in the third quarter and Northland capitalized, erasing an eight point Blue Angel lead and taking the contest by a final of 75-54.

Milwaukee,WI- Coming off a home victory against Andrews University, the Mount Mary Blue Angels left no doubt against the Crusaders of Great Lakes Christian College on Saturday. MMU used a 45 point first half to dominate the game and cruise to 77-48 win. The consecutive victories for the basketball program are the first in over three calendar years.

Milwaukee, WI- The Mount Mary basketball team snapped a 14 game home losing streak on Sunday by defeating the Cardinals of Andrews University. MMU never found a perfect rhythm offensively, but their defense carried them to a 59-42 win.

Olivet, MI- Playing their 7th game in 16 days, the Mount Mary Basketball team had their hands full at Olivet College on Wednesday evening. For most of the first half it looked like a four quarter battle may be in the offing. Unfortunately for the Blue Angels, Olivet used their superior size and depth to fast break and pressure their way to control the second half and win the game by a 74-46 final.

Milwaukee, WI- On a night that was a fitting tribute to Marc Heidorf, the Mount Mary Blue Angels and Alverno Inferno engaged in a physical, hard fought basketball match up. MMU held an 8 point lead in the third quarter, but the Inferno stormed back and wore down the Blue Angels for 73-61 victory.

Milwaukee, WI- Mount Mary and the Marian University Sabres engaged in a tight back and forth basketball game Tuesday evening at the Bloechl Center. Marian held a one point lead at half which they eventually stretched to eleven. The Blue Angels would storm back and cut the deficit to four however, they would get no closer and fell by a 63-54 final score.

Blue Angels fall to Martin Luther College

Milwaukee, WI- Coming off a loss in which they held a lead for much of the game, the Mount Mary basketball team hoped to rebound in their second game of the season against Martin Luther College. However, MMU was unable to rebound both literally and figuratively as MLC controlled the glass and the game and won by a 73-46 score. The Knights of Martin Luther College wasted no time jumping on the young Blue Angel squad.  Putting up a 27 point first quarter which would help them establish a lead they would not relinquish.  Two consistant areas of concern for MMU so far in the very young season are turnovers and getting hurt on the defensive glass.  For the game MLC had a staggering 26 offensive rebounds and forced the Blue Angels into 24 turnovers. Skye Giddings lead the Blue Angels in scoring for a second straight game, she scored 14 points, highlighted by 8-10 shooting from the free throw line.  Fellow first year player Deja Rivers scored 11 points and added 7 rebounds.  India Lucas scored 9 points and added 7 rebounds, Talesa Campbell also scored six for the Blue Angels, and Alexus Hatcher snared 9 rebounds. Mount Mary (0-2) will have another chance to acquire their first win of the season quickly, as they are back in action at home on Saturday, November 12th.  The Blue Angels will host the Wolfpack of Oak Hills Christian at 1 pm in the Bloechl center.  Follow all goings on within MMU athletics here on www.mtmaryathletics.com

Milwaukee, WI - College basketball was back in swing at the Bloechl Center on Tuesday evening. The Mount Mary Basketball team had a 7 point half time lead against the Scarlet Hawks of Illinois Tech. But fatigue and hot shooting by the Hawks did in MMU, as the Blue Angels fell by a 72-62 score.
