Amanda Nance named All-Conference
Mount Mary junior softball player Amanda Nance has been named All-Conference by the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Nance was named to the 2nd team when the honors were announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Nance was a stalwart at the plate all season and also a most solid defender playing catcher and other infield positions. It was the last quarter of the season in which Nance caught fire and put together one the more remarkable stretches of offense in the nation this season.
Between April 21st and 25th, in seven games, Nance collected 5 home runs, nine runs driven in, and carried a .444 batting average. She hit home runs in four consecutive games and in 5 out of 6 games.
In addition, her seventh home run of the season matched the Mount Mary single season record, set by Katie Edwards over ten seasons ago.
She also led Mount Mary with 27 hits, 21 runs batted in, a batting average of .333 and a robust slugging percentage of .691. Her seven long balls was good enough to place her 6th in the CCAC overall.
Last week, Nance was named CCAC player of the week and was recognized with teammates Taylor Hames, Alex Eads, and Vanessa Diaz as a NAIA Scholar Athlete.
