Final Test For Blue Angels
Tennis regular season finale tomorrow.
For only the second time since joining the NCAA, the Mount Mary University tennis team will play Roosevelt University. The dual match will be played this Sunday Oct. 5th at 11:00 am in Chicago, Ill.
This season's ending has been nothing but heartbreak for the Blue Angels, and none of it has been within their grasps. Two possibly record tying matches were called in the middle of play due to rain. Both these matches coming in this last week of the regular season, and both extremely close games going until the final call.
So much of the best play seems to be lining up for the Blue Angels. Ana Mercado (So./Grafton, Wis.) has been on the ball this year winning her last four singles matches, her teammate Krista Olson (Jr./Appleton, Wis.) has a little streak of her own going. Olson has yet to lose a singles match this year, she is 7-0 in her singles flights as a Blue Angel.
Over 70 percent of MMU players have winning records in singles matches this year. The only downfall for the team has been doubles matches. In both losses for Mount Mary University, the doubles flights were swept by the opposing team. In the rematch against Alverno that was called, the Blue Angels were 1-1 in doubles matches and the last doubles match was tied 7-7.
Some reshuffling had both the second and third flights leading at the suspension of play on Thursday against MSOE. Clearly showing the improvements in doubles play from the beginning of the season. The Blue Angels have been slowed by weather, but the team is hungry for their sixth win and appear determined to keep up the fantastic play.
This will mark the end of the regular season for the Blue Angels. A fantastic year for a hardworking team! Good luck Blue Angels!
