Blue Angels Will Be Put To The Test Against Muskies
Mount Mary University travels to play Lakeland College
Mount Mary University has been keeping their noses to the grindstone these days, the proof, a 3-1 start to the tennis season. The Navy Halos are heading up to Kohler, Wis. to test their skills against Lakeland College on Sept. 19 at 4:00 pm.
In the 2013-14 season, the Muskies came ready to play on MMU territory. It was a dual match to remember, as the teams would test dusk to play to the final moments possible, back and forth until the Muskies won 5-4. Nina Her (Sr./Brown Deer, Wis.) helped win her doubles match against the Muskies, and was the first to win the singles match, which got the ball rolling for her team. Krista Olson (Jr./Appleton, Wis.) and Andrea Monacelli (So./Sussex, Wis.) both swept their opponents 6-0, 6-0, each.
Ana Mercado (So./Grafton, Wis.) and Monacelli just started to play as a doubles team on Sept.13, and the chemistry was evident right off the racquet as the team defeated a tough Marian University doubles of Melissa Spannbauer and Samantha Austin. Both Mercado and Monacelli kept things going in singles against MU, Olson and Brooke Slamka (Jr./Racine, Wis.) followed suit as they won their singles convincingly as well.
This will be the fourth matchup against a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference team, as the Blue Angels are 2-1 against the NACC. The match will be played in Kohler, Wis. at the Sports Core Complex.
