St. Louis, MO- Sunday saw the 2025 Mount Mary Blue Angel soccer team make their season debut. It was also the first soccer match for the Blue Angels as a member of the NAIA, and the debut of Robert Baker as head coach of the program.
MMU traveled to St. Louis to take on the Eutectics of the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy. In the first half, UHSP unleashed 17 shots but Anna Corpas Salcedo and the Mount Mary defense held strong against the attack. The Blue Angels went into halftime trailing 2-0.
The second half saw UHSP add one goal and the Blue Angels could not generate any offense as the Eutectics took the match by a 3-0 final.
Mamah Konneh recorded the only shot for Mount Mary on the day. Anna Corpas Salcedo had a busy day in goal in her collegiate debut, Corpas Salcedo recorded 12 saves, including a stopped penalty kick.
With eleven players making their collegiate debut, the close defeat certainly bodes well for the 2025 season ahead. The Blue Angels (0-1) will next be in action on Saturday, September 6th at 2 pm. MMU will open their home schedule against Principia College at the Mount Mary University soccer field.
