Chicago, IL- The Mount Mary Basketball team has consistently shot more foul shots than their opponents all season. This was the case again Monday evening at Illinois Tech, however the Blue Angels could not capitalize, missing 11 free throws which was largely the difference in a 70-58 loss. Milwaukee, WI- Mount Mary and Blackburn engaged in a back and forth contest on Sunday evening at the Bloechl Center. MMU trailed by 4 at the break but turned things around in the second half to knock off the visiting Beavers by a score of 81-78. The win was Mount Mary's first over a current NCAA opponent since December 17, 2019.

Rockford, IL- The Rockford Regents used a 16-5 run to open the game and a 20-10 first quarter to stake a lead over Mount Mary on Friday night. The game largely played even from that point forward, with MMU drawing as close as 4 points in the 4th quarter. But Rockford held off all Blue Angel rallies and after MMU was forced to foul in the last minute, allowing the Regents to defeat MMU by a score of 65-53.

They snapped an overall 23 game losing streak for the program, and claimed the first road victory for MMU basketball in over three calendar years.

Blue Angels drop tight contest to Marian

Milwaukee, WI- Mount Mary and the Marian University Sabres engaged in a tight back and forth basketball game Tuesday evening at the Bloechl Center. Marian held a one point lead at half which they eventually stretched to eleven. The Blue Angels would storm back and cut the deficit to four however, they would get no closer and fell by a 63-54 final score.

Cold streak dooms Mount Mary against Oak Hills Christian

Milwaukee, WI- Mount Mary took the floor Saturday hoping to find it's first win of the young season on Saturday. However, foul trouble and cold shooting slowed down the Blue Angels who fell behind and could not mount a run against the Wolfpack of Oak Hills Christian. MMU dropped the contest by a score of 70-51.

Blue Angels fall to Martin Luther College

Milwaukee, WI- Coming off a loss in which they held a lead for much of the game, the Mount Mary basketball team hoped to rebound in their second game of the season against Martin Luther College. However, MMU was unable to rebound both literally and figuratively as MLC controlled the glass and the game and won by a 73-46 score. The Knights of Martin Luther College wasted no time jumping on the young Blue Angel squad.  Putting up a 27 point first quarter which would help them establish a lead they would not relinquish.  Two consistant areas of concern for MMU so far in the very young season are turnovers and getting hurt on the defensive glass.  For the game MLC had a staggering 26 offensive rebounds and forced the Blue Angels into 24 turnovers. Skye Giddings lead the Blue Angels in scoring for a second straight game, she scored 14 points, highlighted by 8-10 shooting from the free throw line.  Fellow first year player Deja Rivers scored 11 points and added 7 rebounds.  India Lucas scored 9 points and added 7 rebounds, Talesa Campbell also scored six for the Blue Angels, and Alexus Hatcher snared 9 rebounds. Mount Mary (0-2) will have another chance to acquire their first win of the season quickly, as they are back in action at home on Saturday, November 12th.  The Blue Angels will host the Wolfpack of Oak Hills Christian at 1 pm in the Bloechl center.  Follow all goings on within MMU athletics here on www.mtmaryathletics.com

Blue Angels start hot but fall to Illinois Tech in season opener

Milwaukee, WI - College basketball was back in swing at the Bloechl Center on Tuesday evening. The Mount Mary Basketball team had a 7 point half time lead against the Scarlet Hawks of Illinois Tech. But fatigue and hot shooting by the Hawks did in MMU, as the Blue Angels fell by a 72-62 score.
