Final Home Game Of 2014 Wednesday
Blue Angels looking for victory to finish off the 2014 homestretch.
The 2014-15 season has started off a bit slow for the Blue Angels. The process for teaching a nearly complete roster filled with underclassmen is a slow one. While some of the youngsters are becoming acclimated to NCAA basketball, the team has yet to fire on all cylinders for an entire 40 minute stretch. This Wednesday Dec. 3rd at 6:00 pm, the young Blue Angels will host Moody Bible Institute at the Bloechl Center.
Last season, the teams played a two game series where the Archers won 2-0. The first game of the 2013-14 season for MMU was a 13 point loss to MBI. The game saw the bounce back of MMU's basketball program, and also saw what a prepared and healthy team can do. Throughout the season, the Blue Angels would lose some players personal reasons and to injury as well. Making the second game a lopsided affair as only six Blue Angels would suit up. The bright spot of second contest was Taylor Baumgart (So./Burlington, Wis.) scoring a team leading 13 points and pulling down eight rebounds.
This year the Blue Angels have brought in a full class of NCAA recruits. MMU is nearly a completely new roster from the previous season, but the team has started to show signs of cohesiveness. Last contest two Blue Angels walked away with double-doubles; Becky Onan (Fr./Grafton, Wis.) had 10 pts and 10 rebs and Chrisandra Freeman (Fr./Cedar Rapids, Iowa) had 13 pts and 10 rebs. Newcomer Abigail Radish (So./Muskego, Wis.) came off the bench and finished with 17 points and 3 steals in that game against Northland College.
The Blue Angels are just a few steps away from transferring their hard work in practice and between games into success on the court as a team. Following the contest against MBI, the Blue Angels will head to Iowa to play a pair of games in Dubuque. The first of the two road games will be Friday Dec. 5th at 7:00 pm against Clarke University.
