Ripon, WI- Riding the momentum of a four-game win streak, the Mount Mary softball team headed to Ripon College on Tuesday.
Unfortunately it was the home standing Red Hawks who would win both games, by scores of 12-2 and 7-2.
The Blue Angels wasted no time continuing their red-hot run scoring, they plated two in the top of inning number one to take a 2-0 lead. Ripon would storm back with five runs of their own in the first to claim a 5-2 lead.
The Red Hawks also put up a big number in the bottom of the 4th, scoring seven to extend their lead to 12-2. That would be the final margin as Ripon took game one. Lily Day, Micaela Gonzalez, Crystal Peterson and Naomi Gomez collected hits for MMU in game one. It was announced earlier on Tuesday that Gomez tied for the highest batting average in all of NCAA division 3 over last week's games.
Game 2 commenced and once again MMU took a 1st inning lead. A Kylie Ann Kluck 2-run single gave the Blue Angels the early 2-0 edge. Ripon would once again respond, scoring 4 1st inning runs to claim a 4-2 lead.
Ripon added two runs in the 3rd to take a 6-2 lead. The host Red Hawks would add one more run for a 7-2 win.
In game 2, Naomi Gomez continued her strong career finish, with two more hits. Also providing hits for Mount Mary were Micaela Gonzalez, Crystal Peterson, Lillian Fay and Kylie Ann Kluck.
The Blue Angels finish the 2025 season at 10-25. This was the fourth consecutive season in which the team won at least 10 games, the longest stretch of double digit wins in program history. Stay tuned to www.mtmaryathletics.com for all coverage of Mount Mary softball.
