Rally Falls Just Short against Calumet

Glendale, WI- Sunday saw the Mount Mary softball team play host to the Crimson Wave of Calumet College.
After a lopsided loss in game one, the Blue Angels nearly pulled off a remarkable comeback but fell just short in game two, falling by a 6-5 score.
In game one, Calumet controlled the game and posted a 13-0 victory. Micaela Gonzalez, Jodie Penman, Naomi Gomez and Crystal Peterson posted hits for the Blue Angels.
Game 2 turned out to be a very competitive contest. A Jodie Penman rbi single brought Mount Mary within one run in the bottom of the 4th. Lily Day pitched well and kept MMU in the game against the tough Crimson Wave offense.
Trailing 6-1, the Blue Angels would stage an impressive rally in the bottom of the 7th. Following a clutch run scoring hit by Crystal Peterson, the Blue Angels trailed 6-2. Amanda Nance would then crack a three run double with the bases loaded, thrilling the home fans and bringing MMU within one. The Blue Angels could not come up with one more clutch hit unfortunately, falling 6-5 to Calumet in game two.
Micaela Gonzalez and Jodie Penman had two hits each in game two, and Nance paced Mount Mary with three runs knocked in.
