Check out the inside story of the Blue Angels softball team.
We were able to grab a couple extra winks of sleep before battling out the hot double-header at Cape Coral. The team wasn't quite adjusted to the heat of Florida, so it was a slow start for the Angels.
Although our performance wasn't as good as we had hoped, our spirits were still high. We had good communication and we were still able to pick one another up between innings. During our break, we fueled-up on turkey wraps, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and a leftover veggie tray. With this extra energy, we were able to pull out a few more hits in the first few innings of our second game. Even though we didn't pull out wins today, our losses provided a reflection on what our season can and could be; whether that be personal or team goals.
After our games, everyone was focused on self-reflection. It was a quiet afternoon due to the intense heat we had faced, but that quickly turned around after the team prepared and ate a superb collection of food from our fridge. Some may refer to this experience as enjoying left-overs. With our bellies full, we decided to work off the carbs and take a leisurely stroll to the local 7-Eleven. Many of us purchased a Slurpee and/or chocolate, which we devoured before leaving the establishments parking lot. On our way back, we couldn't help but notice how lucky we were to be in Florida because the weather was so beautiful.
Some of the team decided to head over to the Bayside Grill located conveniently across the parking lot of our motel. While the rest hung back and had a good laugh over pictures captured from the trip thus far.
Things to take from today: no more than two to a bed, Marina loves grapes, and 7-Eleven has an app. But in all seriousness, we have a great team in the making and are very excited to see how we play out the rest of our season.
