Player's Blog: Katie Edwards 3-7-2015
Check out what life is like in the cleats of MMU senior Katie Edwards.
As of 2:00 pm today, Blue Angels Fastpitch Softball is officially underway. Yes we have been practicing for months, but in a cramped gym. Today, we made history and tomorrow, we will make more.
This morning we were able to catch up on some much needed sleep and take our time to physically and mentally prepare for our first games. As we walked up to the field you could feel the excitement and anticipation from each of the players as our cleats touched the dirt. Our warm up was solid, each player going all out from the very beginning.
As the clock hit 2:00, we found ourselves up to bat against Morris University. Everyone's confidence was high and we ended up scoring three within the first inning and keeping them at zero until the fifth. The game was intense all the way until the last out, but dare I say, WE WON. We started out this season 1-0.
Shorty, and I mean shortly, after that game we found ourselves playing our "rivals," whom we have not been able to play in two years. Although the score of the game seems like a blowout, we made HUGE strides in this game. We played as a team all the way until the end even with exhausted arms and legs.
Now we find ourselves at the hotel, with two games under our belts and making tacos, relaxing, and fixing our injuries. As a four year senior, I cannot say enough of how proud I am of this team. I would not have played my last first game with any other team.
