Ecker Assists Her Blue Angels

MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary University volleyball team won their second match of the season last week against Finlandia University. Leading the way in assists throughout the weekend, and doing so all season long for MMU, Brianna Ecker’s performance has helped the Blue Angels in their recent success and has given her the next Blue Angels Spotlight Player.

Freshman Ecker has been a constant for the Blue Angels all season long. Being in the middle of nearly every play for MMU, Ecker’s performance is crucial to the team’s success. This season, Ecker has guided her team with 236 assists. Nearly every match, the young Fond du Lac native has led her team in that respected category. Most recently, Ecker tallied her season’s best in assists in a single match with 27 against Grace Christian University last Friday.

In addition to her work in the box this season, Ecker has landed a team high outside the lines with 35 service aces. Those instant points for the Blue Angels have been a big part of their success, and Ecker not only leads her team, but is fourth overall in the American Collegiate Athletic Association in that category.

Ecker has quickly elevated herself as one of the key players for the Blue Angels this season. Most recently at the SISU Classic hosted by Finlandia University, Ecker earned MMU’s sole spot on the SISU Classic All-Tournament Team. Ecker launched six service aces at the Finlandia hosted event and 35 assists. Not surprisingly, Ecker is also in the top three in assists in the ACAA standings.

Ecker and the Blue Angels return to the court Tue. Oct. 8 at the Bloechl Center. The 8:00 pm contest against Maranatha Baptist University will have live stats and video available at MtMaryAthletics.com.
