MILWAUKEE – Following a game-winning goal in last week’s rivalry showdown against Alverno, Mount Mary University Forward Allison Klotz (So./Port Washington, Wis.) has been named the next Blue Angel Spotlight Player. Now in second in total goals (13) and points (27) in the Association of Division III Independents, Klotz has been a big boost to the offense this season for the Blue Angels.
In the Blue Angels lone contest last week, Klotz put the Blue Angels ahead with a first half goal courtesy of a pinpoint corner kick from teammate Karina Salgado (Jr./Chicago, Ill.) that gave MMU a fleeting 1-0 lead against Alverno College.
The Inferno tied things before the end of the first half and continued to outshoot MMU 22-6. Klotz and the Blue Angels made each of their six shots count as Klotz received another well-placed ball from teammate Logan Ormeroid (Sr./West Allis, Wis.) that allowed Klotz to find an opening and flip a shot into the goal for the 2-1 lead with 12 minutes remaining in the contest.
Responsible for all five of the Blue Angels shots on goal, Klotz found her hat-trick goal with just seven minutes left on the clock. The lead carried through the end and now has MMU sitting at 4-6-1 on the 2017-18 season.
Klotz and the Blue Angels play two games this week. First MMU will travel to Berrien Springs, Mich. Tue. Oct. 10 to take on the Andrews University Cardinals. Then the Blue Angels host Finlandia University on Sat. Oct. 14. Kickoff is set for 10:00 am on Mount Mary Field. Live stats for Saturday’s contest can be found at mtmaryathletics.com.
