MILWAUKEE – In her final collegiate week of play, Becky Onan (Sr./Grafton, Wis.) is the next Blue Angels Spotlight Player. The fourth year player set the official MMU record for career points last week against Finlandia University and has earned her way into the history books.
(Watch the memorable moment here.)
Now 1013 career points, Onan looks to add to the MMU all-time lead for points as well as the school’s career best marks in blocks (157), steals (143), defensive rebounds (516), total rebounds (635), assists (173) and minute played (2942): there are 1440 minutes in one day.
The senior tied the program’s single-season record for wins last season and looks to break that record this year for the basketball team. In addition, the two-sport athlete tied the soccer program’s record for wins in a single-season in 2016-17 and was one win away from the feat in 2017-18.
Onan’s career at MMU has seen multiple awards including twice being a member of the Association of Division III Independents All-Independent team and was a member of the first team in program history to play in the postseason at the GSAC Tournament in 2016.
Along with being decorated by the AD3I and a record-holder for a laundry list of categories, Onan played in every single game throughout her career. Fighting through fatigue, bruises and bumps, Onan found a way to participate in all 83 games and has come away with one of the most memorable careers in the program’s history.
First 100 fans in attendance of Onan’s final game at MMU will receive a free MMU t-shirt courtesy of the Gold Rush Night that will coincide with Senior Night. The Bloechl Center will host Onan’s finale Tue. Feb. 20 at 7:00 pm. Live stats and video coverage will be available at mtmaryathletics.com.
From all the friends, family and friends, thanks for all of your hard work Becky!
