MMU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

“Mount Mary’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council is made up of individual leaders from all six of MMU’s sports. We on the committee try to provide solutions to various issues within the athletic community on campus primarily through fundraising and volunteering efforts. We currently partner with Special Olympics—the largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities—and volunteer at a variety of different events, including the Polar Plunge in 2012. We have also partnered with surrounding schools to help get youth interested and more involved in sports.”

Mount Mary's SAAC has been working to improve their pressence on campus as athletic role models. Members have spent time improving the athletic environment, volunteered with Special Olympics, and worked with a number of other campus clubs and organizations.

SO College (Special Olympics College)

This year marks the beginning of a new chapter of the Special Olympics partnership between Mount Mary and Special Olympics Wisconsin. Mount Mary University is now a member of Special Olympics College. Instead of only keeping the partnership between athletes and the Olympians, we have joined forces with SO College to get the entire campus involved! Starting at week one, the campus has strived to find ways to fundraise, volunteer, and eventually host events on campus. The goal is for Special Olympians and Mount Mary Students to work together to a common goal of having fun and raising awareness!
