To begin the 2013-14 sports seasons, Mount Mary University entered a partnership with Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin to provide Athletic Training services for MMU’s Department of Athletics. That partnership continues today.
Bailey Leeson, a full-time board-certified Licensed Athletic Trainer with the Froedtert Group, has contracted with Mount Mary to provide all Blue Angel student-athletes evaluation, treatment, preventative and rehabilitation services, as well as local recommendations for doctors and/or surgeons on a needed basis.
Leeson’s daily hours are dependent upon the time of year at Mount Mary, but all Blue Angel student-athletes have the opportunity for treatment during their respective seasons. Leeson is also present in the Athletic Training Room (Bloechl Center, Room 107) 1.5 hours in advance of all home games for MMU and opposing teams on a first-come-first-served basis.
The Mount Mary Athletic Training Room contains amenities including a combination E-Stim & Ultrasound machine, a Hydroculator thermal heating system, foam rollers, wobble boards and therabands, among other numerous treatment tools.
Mount Mary Athletics also owns two automated external defibrillators (AEDs)—one located at the northeast end of the Bloechl Center Gymnasium and one for portable use. Crutches and splintbags are also provided at home events.
Through the efforts and tools provided, Mount Mary hopes to provide a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all Blue Angel student-athletes and our opponents.
