MILWAUKEE – This week, the Mount Mary University basketball team hits the hardwood for one of their last two games before the calendar year ends. The Blue Angels will travel to Manitowoc, Wis. to take on Silver Lake College (3-3). Both teams are fresh off big wins over Grace Bible College (3-6) this past weekend.
- Thu. Dec. 7 Silver Lake 6:00 pm
The Blue Angels have held their last four opponents to 54 points or less, their next test will be the Lakers who have stepped up their scoring output this season. SLC averages 66.7 points per game this year while shooting 37.4 percent from the field. The Lakers are apt at shooting beyond the 3-point line hitting 31.5 percent. One third of their total field goals come from 3-point territory.
MMU is coming off their second win in as many games. Erica Williams (Fr./Bloomington, Ill.) is fresh off her biggest performance in her budding collegiate career. Williams dropped 30 points against Grace Bible College last Saturday and shot 14-of-16 from the field. The rookie also recorded her first double-double of the season while she pulled down 15 rebounds against the Tigers.
Following a breakout opening month of the basketball season, the forward now sits at third place in the Association of Division III Independents in rebounds per game (10.5) and leads the association in offensive rebounds per game (5.7).
Although the Lakers lead the all-time series between the schools, the Blue Angels split with SLC last season. In their two game series last year, each home team won their respective games by 20 or more points.
