MILWAUKEE – This week the NCAA kicks off their opening games for basketball. The Mount Mary University basketball team joins the festivities as they open up their season with a pair of home contests featuring two opponents from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. As fans remember, the Blue Angels opened up their 2016-17 season with a win against Marian University of the NACC.

- Wed. Nov. 15 Dominican (Ill.) 7:00 pm
- Sat. Nov. 18 Edgewood 2:00 pm
A challenging start to the season for MMU, the Blue Angels hit the court this year in hopes to duplicate their home-opening win last season. The Blue Angels will first take on Dominican University. The teams have met only four times since MMU joined the NCAA in 2009. The Stars are 4-0 over the Blue Angels in that time, but the Blue Angels are looking to mimic their defensive efforts from last year against DU. MMU was able to clamp down on the defensive end and hold the Stars to just seven points in the final 10 minutes of the game.
The Blue Angels then close out the opening week against Edgewood College. These teams have only met once in 2015, when the Eagles grabbed a 60-35 win over MMU at the Todd Wehr Edgedome. Last season, the Eagles struggled to finish 0-25 on their campaign. The Blue Angels hope to notch their first win against EC on Saturday at the Bloechl Center. With MMU returning the program's official all-time leading scorer Becky Onan (Sr./Grafton, Wis.), the Blue Angels look to pressure the Eagles defense with the multi-threat scorer.
