MILWAUKEE – As the NCAA season continues, the Mount Mary University Blue Angels have a jam-packed schedule coming this week. The volleyball, soccer and cross country teams all have road events in the next few days, while the golf team hosts their second event of the season.
A brief look at the week…
- Tue. Sept. 12 @ Silver Lake 7:00 pm
- Sat. Sept. 16 @ Faith Baptist Bible 1:00 pm
- Wed. Sept. 13 @ Lakeland 7:00 pm
- Sat. Sept. 16 @ Finlandia 12:00 pm
- Thu. Sept. 14 vs Concordia Wisconsin (Currie Park Golf Course) 1:30 pm
- Sat. Sept. 16 @ Tom Hoffman Invitational (UW Whitewater) 10:45 am
The Mount Mary University volleyball team looks to tally a win this week when they hit the road against their rival, Silver Lake College (1-10), and a new opponent to MMU, Faith Baptist Bible College (3-6).
The Lakers have struggled to this point in the season with their 1-10 record. Although the volleyball team is (0-3) to start the year, MMU has won the previous four meetings against the Lakers dating back to September of 2015.
Following the Lakers on Wednesday, the Blue Angels will travel to Ankeny, Iowa to take on the Faith Baptist Bible College Falcons of the National Christian College Athletic Association. Although the Falcons are 3-6 on the season, they are also winless against NCAA opponents, which favors the Blue Angels. Live stats will be available for both volleyball games.
Two games this week for the Mount Mary University soccer team. Following a loss against Iowa Wesleyan, the Blue Angels will first travel to Lakeland University to take on the Muskies. Last season, the two teams battled through a low-scoring 2-0 contest in which MMU parlayed a second half score to a victory.
Then MMU will travel to Hancock, Mich. on Saturday to take on Finlandia University (0-4). The Lions and Blue Angels tested their abilities on the field twice last season. While the Lions search for their first goal of this season, they cannot forget last season when the Blue Angels won both contests 3-0. Both soccer matches will have live stats and streams available on the schedule page.
Concordia Wisconsin will send their golf team to Currie Park Golf Course to take on the Blue Angels this Thursday. The Blue Angels just came away with a second place finish in their inaugural Mount Mary Invite of 2017 when they hosted Lakeland University and Alverno College. The Muskies turned in three scorecards with players scoring under 95 strokes to take a convincing win.
Jacqlyn Artman (So./Eldorado, Ill.) is coming off her second round of the season in which she shot under 100 strokes. Previously the best mark for MMU Golf, Artman has now twice put her name in the Blue Angels Annals for a low score.
The cross country team adds a race this week as they head to the campus of University of Wisconsin Whitewater. The Warhawks will host the annual Tom Hoffman Invitational this Saturday with first gun sounding at 10:45 am.
Jori Galles (Sr./Waukesha, Wis.) and Christina Ishaq (Jr./Milwaukee, Wis.) are coming off top 25 performances at the Ken Weidt Classic last weekend. The tandem has led the Blue Angels in both meets this season, and look to continue the trend as they take the challenge from the Warhawks.
